Later on, when the Holy Prophet sa had recovered from his wounds, Sa‘d bin Mu‘ a z ra approached him and reported to him what he had heard from Hadrat Na d r ra and said 'O Prophet of God, it is not within my power to do what he did during this crisis'. Hadrat Anas ra further reports that after the war when we searched for him, his body was found with more than eighty wounds, inflicted by swords, arrows and lances. The idolaters had disfigured his face by cutting off his ears and nose and whatever else they could. His sister only recognised him by identifying marks on his fingers. Hadrat Anas ra further narrates that we (all the Companions of the Holy Prophet sa ) believed that this verse had been revealed about him and other faithful Companions like him. 46 The Violation of Individual Covenants and the Punishment In comparison to this, the Holy Quran also speaks of those unfortunate people who violate their individual covenant with Allah.
