— Part III 286 finger at even a semblance of a vice found in his person. However, there is no dearth of testimonies that since his childhood he was virtually owned by the mosque. His treatment of the poor at this tender age was that instead of eating his share of food at the table, he would take it out to the street and distribute it to whatever poor children he would come across. In short, all the testimonies borne by friend or foe point out that he was an innocent child of pure soul, loving his God and fellow human beings. Those who make sacrifices for the sake of the poor and serve the cause of humanity as he did, and are never accused of inappropriate behaviour, and hypocrisy, from childhood through to old age, verily, to them applies the Quranic criterion: … …I have indeed lived among you a whole lifetime before this. Will you not then understand? (S u rah Y u nus; Ch. 10: V. 17)
