Covenants, their Different Categories, Punishments and Rewards 301 covenant from fellow human beings on behalf of God, they must produce the evidence of their own truth. They also require a binding covenant upon them to remain truthful. This is the same covenant as mentioned above. Thus, all heads are bowed before God as a result of this covenant, and they are made answerable to Him because of it. That is why Allah mentions that for each people their own Book would work as the touchstone of the truth. No people would be held answerable by the standard of the Books revealed to other people. This is clearly mentioned in the verse: (S u rah al-J a thiyah; Ch. 45: V. 29) That is to say, each people will be summoned to their own book and they would be questioned according to that book on the Day of Judgement. Glory be to Allah that He took one covenant from the Prophets as to make them answerable before Him and authorised them to take a covenant from their people about their belief in, and support offered to, the future Prophets as. This covenant is not preserved in so many words in Books other than the Holy Quran, but most certainly the implication of this covenant can be traced to those Books. Thus this chain of covenants goes full circle. The actual wording of this covenant is mentioned in the following verse:
