— Part I 140 There are so many sources of light in the heavenly bodies. Of them, the sun occupies a unique position in relation to the Earth. Its universal character stands out most conspicuously. Similarly the image of the Holy Prophet sa stands out as universal, illuminating the entire globe and making no discrimination between the orient and the occident. The teachings of the Quran are perfectly reflected in the person of Muhammad sa. Both the teaching and the example of the Prophet as are in perfect harmony with each other. Thus when Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah ra , the wife of the Holy Prophet sa , was requested to describe his character, the brief but most comprehensive answer given by her was: He was the Quran personified. 8 The teachings of Islam concur in each and every aspect with the nature of the Holy Prophet sa. Islamic teachings are perfectly well-balanced and based on the principles of justice, benevolence and kinship, as was the character of the Holy Prophet sa.
