Different Kinds of Balance within Man’s Body 103 healthy, the diseased person suffers in totality. A small sore on the tip of a finger, a corrosion of a tooth, an infection in a part of the eyelid, can make one suffer so intensely that people are known to have taken their own lives in order to escape the agony caused by such limited ailments. The growth of a gland in the brain could make a person epileptic, a suffering not only to himself but to his entire circle of family and friends. Only in such cases can the immense beneficence of God be fully realised; a beneficence constantly showered on every living creature. This realisation can only dawn on those who have the faculty to think and be grateful. In the final analysis, disease is nothing but the disturbance of balance i. e. justice. When afflicted with disease, many great men, who commanded respect and earned renown at various times in history, lost all dignity and stooped to the abject level of begging for help from those of their attendants who had no power to help them. Such is the case of mighty emperors who, when afflicted with some disabling disease, appeared so small and insignificant that even the lowest of their slaves would not exchange their slavery with the sovereignty of their masters. Julius Caesar is just such an example who once, during a majestic and awe-inspiring moment of oratory, suddenly fell victim to an attack of epilepsy writhing in agony and pain. Describing this event, Shakespeare writes:
