Different Kinds of Balance within Man’s Body 99 according to the situation. A message is passed from one nerve cell to another in a chain, so that the messages eventually reach the part of the body where they are intended to be delivered. In the transfer of messages from nerve cell to nerve cell, sodium flows into the cell while potassium flows out. If this process is then not reversed immediately and if the potassium is not rehabilitated to its normal level, spontaneous death would result. It is from this that we can deduce the meaning of the Quranic expression Fa Saww a ka Fa ‘Adalaka (S u rah al-Infi ta r; Ch. 82: V. 8).
