287 19 The Recording System Operative in the Entire Universe Now in this context, the question arises about the status of testimony by God and the angels on the Day of Judgement. If you peruse the teaching of other religions, you cannot fail to notice that this category of evidence is only prominent by its absence. The Holy Quran does not claim that you will be committed only on the strength of God’s and the angels’ testimony. Had this been the Quranic attitude, humans would have objected by declaring that the angels are not like humans. They do not possess the same passions and inner motives to commit sin. Hence, their testimony about human passion and motivations cannot be considered adequate by itself. There also has to be human testimony against humans. A famous Urdu poet Gh a lib raises the same question in one of his couplets: We are being caught without justification by the testimony of angels alone,
