The Role of the Three Creative Principles in the Shaping of Religion 123 because a Prophet as commands obedience only in his capacity as vicegerent of God. Again, the person deemed fit by God to represent Him is always worthy of this trust because of his absolute adherence to truth. As such, it is impossible for him to commit injustice either in relation to God and His message or in relation to mankind. But this only happens when the faculties of such a person have been cultivated by God to reach a stage of perfect proportion and poise; only then is he considered fit by God to act as His messenger. God thereby places His trust in him and this trust is never betrayed. Some of these vicegerents are Law-bearing Prophets as who usher in a new era of Divine law. For as long as that era lasts, the other Prophets as who follow do not bring a new law. They are recipients of Prophetic revelation and they perform other functions on behalf of God, such as the strengthening of faith in Him and the reformation of society. According to the Quran, worship of God, performing the prescribed prayers, and spending in a good cause are the three fundamental teachings common to all religions: And they were not commanded but to serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, and being upright, and to observe Prayer, and pay the Zakat.
